Costs to consider when selling in NSW

A planning framework for campaign, preparation, professional and moving costs.

01

Separate campaign and agent costs.

Ask for a written explanation of the agent’s fee, marketing proposal, included services and optional campaign items. Compare the whole service and campaign plan rather than treating one percentage or marketing figure as the complete cost.

02

Budget for the property and transaction.

Depending on the home and circumstances, owners may consider repairs, presentation, cleaning, styling, photography, conveyancing or legal work, costs related to the lender, removalists and the expenses associated with the next property. Not every category will apply.

03

Confirm current advice before committing.

Costs and legal or taxation consequences vary. Obtain current written quotes and advice from the relevant agent, conveyancer or solicitor, lender, tax adviser and other qualified professionals before making a financial decision.
